Cash Register and eftpos combos - How it works
To help keep your costs to a minimum, we offer a range of combos consisting of a cash register and an eftpos terminal. This equipment is provided in near-new condition and has been fully checked by our service department before being sent to you. These are designed primarily for new businesses, however they can also appeal to existing businesses looking for a great value deal coupled with excellent support.
The combos are based on short to medium term rental periods with a minimum of 6 months. This enables a new business to leave the decision about exactly what sort of POS system you want for the longer term until your business has been running for a few months.
We have a range of alternatives, each of which is available over 6, 12, or 24 months, based on choices of 3 different levels of cash register and 4 types of eftpos terminal. To get an indication of the cost involved, first chose your cash register from the list here, then chose your eftpos terminal from the list here and lastly check the pricing over 6 months, 12 months or 24 months. Contact us here for pricing on alternative rental periods (such as 18, 36 or 48 months) of for pricing on a higher specification cash register.
Payment for the first month is by cheque or direct credit to our bank account, after that monthly payments are made in advance by direct debit.
Combo Pack FAQs:
1. My business is not based in Christchurch - how do you train me to use the equipment?
We have developed detailed operator manuals for all our equipment. These are in plain language and are step-by-step. In addition, we provide training over the phone for you once you receive your equipment and you have access to our phone support service 24 hours/day, 365 days/year. We are confident that you will find our equipment easy to use and we will provide you with whatever support you need to help you.
2. What happens if I want to keep using the equipment after the end of the rental period?
You can upgrade to new equipment which suits your needs, or continue on with the one you have. If you decide to continue with your existing system the rental rate will be reduced.
3. What happens if there is a problem with my eftpos terminal or cash register?
We have 24/7 phone support available and the cost of this is included in your rental. Over the 20+ years that we have been in business we have found that well over 95% of all problems can be resolved quickly using phone support. In the rare cases where we cannot solve the problem over the phone, we will advise you on how you can keep trading until your replacement equipment arrives - we will send this to you by urgent courier on the next business day.
4. What about hardware faults?
The cost of repairs due to fair wear and tear is covered in your monthly rental. However problems caused by any of the following are not included in your rental price:
- 1) Impact damage
- 2) Liquid damage
- 3) Damage caused by electrical faults, power spikes or lightning strike
- 4) Damage caused by operator error
- 5) Theft and vandalism
5. What other costs do I pay?
We pay the freight to send the equipment to you and we arrange and pay for collection at the end of the rental. We ask that you keep the boxes and packing that comes with the equipment as you are responsible for any damage that occurs on the return journey.
You will need to pay for any costs charged by your bank to set up your eftpos merchant facility (though we can help minimise this), the on-going eftpos network fees including broadband charges where applicable and any other fees charged by your bank.
We supply you with enough paper rolls to keep you going for at least a few days and can provide you with additional supplies at very competitive prices.
The cost of the mobile connection for the GPRS terminals is included in the rental price.
6. What if I close or sell my business?
If you close your business before the end of the contract period we will negotiate a settlement amount with you based on the amount of time remaining on your contract at the time. If you sell your business you have the option to pass the remainder of your contract on to the new owner, however if that is not an option we will negotiate a settlement amount with you based on the amount of time remaining on your contract at the time.

All our eftpos terminals feature the latest version of software and we have terminals that can operate on either the Paymark or Eftpos NZ network. All are capable of all the standard eftpos functions and can be used for credit cards including chip cards. The cost of any necessary software upgrades is included in our rental prices.
1. One piece: Hypercom T4220, Ingenico i5100 or similar. Basic one piece terminal - you swipe the card and enter the amount then pass/turn the terminal to the customer who selects the account and enters their PIN. Best where space is short and you do not have high numbers of transactions. Operates on standard analogue phone line or via broadband. Not recommended for very busy sites.
2. Two piece: Hypercom T4220 with S9 pinpad, Cadmus AC8000 or similar. Versatile terminals suited for all uses. Base terminal with a separate pinpad where the customer chooses the account and enters their PIN. Operates on standard analogue phone line or via broadband. Recommended for busy sites.
3. One piece GPRS unit, mains powered: Hypercom T4230 or similar. Best of both worlds, uses the mobile phone network to connect but runs on standard mains power, so no battery charging problems. Recommended where you don't want to tie up your phone line for eftpos, cheaper than having a dedicated phone for your eftpos terminal. Can default to phone line connection if the mobile network is down.
4. One-piece mobile unit: Hypercom M4230, Ingenico i7910 or similar. Fully mobile eftpos terminal, battery powered and connecting over GPRS mobile phone network. Ideal for mobile businesses, kiosks and others who do not have access to phone or power connections.
