Why Quest is Different
No Moving Parts.
No fans or hard drives, fans will suck dust into a computer and need periodic cleaning and hard drives will only spin around so many times... after that reliability is an issue, also hard drives do not like being knocked while they are spinning, imagine what happens every time you close the cash drawer which is under your fancy PC? Not to mention the fact that the machine will cost less if it has no moving parts.
Windows operating system.
The biggest problem is that computers run Windows operating system which by its very nature is a complicated and intricate piece of software that is susceptible to viruses and can lock up at times. With Quest POS systems, the Windows operating system is kept away from the Point of Sale to give maximum reliability at times of high demand.
The last thing you want on a busy Saturday night in a restaurant is for your computers to lock up say because of a virus attack and you are not able to process your customers who may have open accounts or tabs on their bill.
Future proof.
Computers are changing so fast that if you buy one today it will be superseded in less than a year and possibly obsolete not long after that, Quest on the other hand is future proof and only requires periodic software upgrades that can be done at minimal cost.
Very rugged and robust.
Quest can be knocked, it can be punched and you can even pour water on it, it is the most rugged POS machine on the market so it will last for many years.
How does Quest do all this.
QUEST has a back office computer, this computer does run Windows and it is used with our very comprehensive software to retain and massage the data that is constantly being sent to it by the Point of Sale Machines but this computer is kept well away from the busy Point of Sale.
If this back office computer should lock up or malfunction for whatever reason... it does not matter! Even if the cables are cut or damaged... it does not matter! You can still trade for days and the data will be stored in the Point of Sale machines quite safely.
When your back office computer is then re-instated the sales data is simply transferred to it as if nothing had ever happened.
